Vikings get 'A' flight win on way to seventh at North Side Relays

The Huntington North High School boys track team got one "A" flight win on the way to placing seventh out of 13 teams at the North Side Relays in Fort Wayne on Saturday, April 19.
Adam Woods earned the top finish for HNHS with a height of 12-0 in pole vault, helping HNHS tally 75 points.
Homestead won the meet with 147 points.
Drew Fawcett placed third in the long jump at 19-3.5, Charlie Metter got fourth place in the 3,200-meter run in 9:45.37 and Colt Ropp got fifth in the shot put with a heave of 42-4.5 for the Vikings other high "A" finishes.
HNHS got two wins in "B" flight as Luke Doughty ran 10:02.79 to win the 3,200 and Jared Coolman took the shot with a throw of 41-6.75.
Aaron Ebert added third place points in the 300-meter hurdles and Woods took fourth in high jump at 5-8, both in "B" flight.
The Vikings scored points in six relays, with the 3,200-meter and 800-meter sprint medley teams leading the way with third place finishes. The quartet of Mettler, Doughty, Isaac Smith and Jordan Utter went 8:36.26 for its third, and Fawcett, Smith, Jake Shaw and Jordan Utter went 1:38.53 to collect their third place.
The 800-meter relay team of Andrew Sizemore, Smith, Utter and Shaw placed fourth with a time of 1:35.56, and the quartet of Matt DeWitt, Aaron Ebert, Austin Lange and Garret Smith got the same placing in the 4,000-meter distance medley with a clocking of 12:00.48.
The Vikings' 400-meter relay team of Houston Lehman, Sizemore, Fawcett and Shaw went :46.08 to place fifth. The 1,600-meter relay team of Lucas Long, Cody Jones, Matt Guhl and Ian Yaste went 3:51.62 to place sixth.
