Sophomore Kory Goodrich struck out 10 batters and senior Conner West knocked in two runs to lead the Huntington North High School varsity baseball team to a 3-2 win over visiting Lewis Cass on Thursday, April 17.

Goodrich went all seven innings and gave up five hits as the Vikings improved to 5-2 on the season. West provided most of the offense with a two-run double in the first inning.

West and Devon Goelz evenly split the Vikings' four hits on the day, with Goelz scoring two runs as well.

Walker Spahr had what turned out to be the game-winning run batted in the third inning on a forecout.

The Viking led 3-0 after three innings, but the Kings' Kyle Dwiggins cut the margin to within one run with a two-run dinger to left-center in the top of the fourth. Goodrich, however, was up to the challenge and pitched one-hit, shutout ball for the final three frames.

Dwiggins reached Goodrich for a double in the seventh, but the Viking hurler picked him off base for the second out of the frame.
