Foresters hang on for twinbill split with Bethel

The Huntington University baseball team held on for a 7-5 win in the nightcap and split a doubleheader with visiting Bethel on Friday, April 11.
The Foresters, 14-18 overall and 8-10 in Crossroads League play, were shut out in the opener, 5-0.
In the nightcap, HU jumped out to a 6-0 lead after two innings, but Bethel scored two runs in the fourth and solo tallies in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings to put the heat on the locals.
Avery Sneed and Andy Roser led HU with a pair of runs batted in apiece. Blake Ayers and TJ
Lindstrand each had two hits among HU's eight for the contest.
Tyson Dietrich earned the win on the mound, going the first 4.1 innings and yielding three earned runs on three hits, with four strikeouts and one walk.
The Foresters were humbled by Bethel hurler Caleb MacPherson in the opener as MacPherson allowed only five singles while striking out four and walking just one.
Michael Crowley got two of the HU hits.
Bethel got solo tallies in the third and fifth innings before dropping in a three-spot in the fifth.
HU hurler Derek McKinney took the loss, going the first 6.2 innings and yielding four runs, three earned, on six hits, with six walks.
