Ruschhaupt, Scher lead HNHS swimmers

Skyler Ruschhaupt and Danny Scher each won two individual events and were part of two winning relay teams to lead the Huntington North High School boys' swim team to a 108-72 win over host Marion on Tuesday, Jan. 27.

Shaun Marion, Casey Dubuc, Chris Royer and Ryan Rethlake also added wins for HNHS, which improved to 7-3 on the season.

Ruschhaupt continued his big season by winning the 200-year individual medley, in 2:10.28, and the 100-yard breaststroke, in 1:05.41, to lead HNHS to 1-2 finishes in both events. Royer backed him up in the 200 IM and Taylor Mortoff was runner-up in the 100 breast.

Scher took his accolades in the 50-yard freestyle, winning in :22.75, and the 100-yard freestyle, winning in :50.92. Marion backed him up in the 100 free for another 1-2 HNHS effort.

Ruschhaupt and Scher teamed with Rethlake and Royer to win the 200-yard medley relay and with Marion and Rethlake to win the 400-year freestyle relay.

Marion and Rethlake went 1-2 in the 200-yard freestyle, Marion wining in 1:55.83. Royer took the 100-yard butterfly, in 1:03.30.

Rethlake was tops in the 500-yard freestyle, in 5:34.20, and Dubuc won the diving, with 210.15 points.

The team of Dubuc, Royer, Zook and Marion won the 200-yard freestyle relay.

Dubuc added a third in the 50 free, Zook placed third in the 100 fly, Josh Bush was third in the 500 free and Zook was second in the 100 back.
