Huntington University to host USATF Junior Olympic Regional Meet July 10-13

Huntington University athletic director Lori Culler has announced that HU is partnering with USA Track & Field to host the 2014 USATF Junior Olympic Regional Meet slated for July 10-13 at King Track & Field Stadium.

"We are very excited to host the USA Track and Field Junior Olympic Regional Meet," said Culler. "It will bring hundreds of junior high and high school track athletes and their families to our campus and give us an opportunity to treat them to some HU hospitality as well as showcase our new track and field facility.

"We're looking forward to the event and hope to develop a long-term relationship with the USA Track and Field Association."

This regional competition will feature over 800 athletes from all over Indiana and Illinois. In order to qualify for Regionals, athletes must be a USATF member and place in the top eight of their respective event at the Junior Olympic Indiana Association Championships held earlier in the summer.

According to Latashia Key, USATF Indiana President, the USATF Indiana Youth Committee and USATF Indiana Board of Directors will work closely with HU Track and Field Head Coach Tom King and his staff to coordinate the four-day event.

"USATF Indiana is very excited to be partnering with Huntington University and this is a wonderful opportunity for them to showcase their facility," said Key. "One of our goals as an association is to expose new and returning athletes, their families and friends to USA track and field events throughout the entire state of Indiana."
