Fort Wayne man wins Turkey Trot

Cody White, of Fort Wayne, topped a record 940 runners and walkers to win the ninth annual Pathfinder Kids Kampus Turkey Trot in Huntington on Thursday, Nov. 28.

White, 23, ignored the frosty temperatures to record a time of 15:23.1, 12 seconds ahead of runner-up Matt Kimbrell, of Muncie.

Erica Cordes, of Wabash, was the overall female winner, crossing the finish line in 19:25 to beat runner-up Karen Killian, of Bryan, OH, by almost 27 seconds. Cordes placed 24th overall.

Brothers Sean Lewis and Cordell Lewis were the top Huntington County finishers in the race, placing third and fourth, respectively, in 16:01.4 and 16:13.7.

The two winners took home $100 cash prizes, and divisiion winners took home $50 prizes, both courtesy of the host sponsor, McDonald's.

Local runners took four more spots in the top 10 in addition to the Lewises. Charlie Mettler placed sixth in 16:38, Douglas Baker was seventh in 16:44.2, Jake Crosley was ninth in 17:02 and Luke Doughty was 10th in 17:55.2.

The top local female finisher was Joanna Stebing, who place 48th overall in 21:24.5
