Recker doubles up on career-bests to lead HU women to win

Amelia Recker posted career-highs in points and rebounds to help the Huntington University women's basketball team beat visiting Indiana Tech, 79-65, on Tuesday, Nov. 19.

Recker, a second-year forward, scored 28 points and pulled down 13 boards to help the Foresters win their third-straight contest and improve to 4-2.

Like the last game, it was a tale of two halves for Huntington. Coach Lori Culler's squad shot 38.7 percent in the opening stanza and trailed the Warriors at halftime, 27-26. In the second half, however, the Foresters raised their shooting percentage to 57.1 and went on a 28-6 run starting at 12:58 that gave them the double-digit win.

Recker produced 12 points during the scoring spree and senior Pazia Speed contributed eight of her 22.

Junior Courtney Baker tossed in the run's final bucket and finished with 14 points.

The Foresters made 28 of 59 shots overall for 47.5 percent. They also made the most of their opportunities at the free throw line, sinking 21 of 27 for 77.8 percent.

Chelsea Carradine led the Warriors, 4-3, with 24 points and a game-high 15 rebounds. Rachel Kruse chipped in 12 points and Sabine Filippovica added 11.

For the game, Indiana Tech connected on 27 of 62 attempts for a shooting percentage of 43.5. At the charity stripe, they converted 7 of 9 for a mark of 77.9 percent.

Speed had a team-high five assists, and Miranda Palmer came off the HU bench to contribute seven points and four assists.

In the battle of the boards, the Warriors narrowly edged the Foresters, 36-34.
