New claims first title for HU women bowlers

Shelby New claimed the first-ever individual title for the Huntington University women's bowling team at Adrian College's AC Open at the Lewanee Recreation Center, in Adrian, MI, on Saturday, Nov. 16.
The freshman averaged 214.0 through four regular games with a high game of 246. Her top finish also landed her a spot on the all-tournament eam.
As a team, the Foresters finished third with a pin total of 6,542, which included four regular games and 16 Baker matches. Casandra Griffith and Emily O'Leary each posted a 186.75 average to finish tied for 11th. Teammate Brooke Ewing was right behind with a 181.25 average to claim 13th while Ayla Yeiter averaged a 173.5 for an 18th place finish.
Ninth-ranked Bowling Green claimed the women's team title with 6,828 pins followed by 29th-ranked Adrian, 6,659; Huntington, 6,542; Alma, 6,395; Toledo, 6,165; Youngstown State, 5,713; Michigan State, 5,509; and Eastern Michigan, 5,170.
