Ochs leads HNHS boys to third at Portage XC Invite

Senior Ross Ochs placed in the top five to help take the Huntington North High School boys' varsity cross country team to a third place finish with a score of 176 at the Portage Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 10.

Ochs placed fifth overall out of 238 total runners in a time of 15:46.2. Josh Graham took second for the Vikings and 13th overall in 16:07.3. Austin Roberts placed 25th in 16:23.1, Jake Crosley took 41st in 16:36 and Sean Lewis placed 92nd in 17:11.6 to round out the scoring for the Vikings.

Non-scorers included Darius Vogleman and Cordell Lewis.

Nathan Karr of AA Pioneer won the race overall in 15:24.9. AA Pioneer won the race with a score of 72, with four of their five runners placing in the top 20.

Pinckney took second with 118 points, and Saline placed fourth with 199 points.

In the junior varsity race, Garrett Humbert placed 30th overall in 17:44.2. David Sober was close behind in 32nd, running the race in 17:45.1. Josh McIntyre ended in 40th with a time of 17:49.3, Nick Yarger took 42nd in 17:50.8 and Phil Zook placed 68th in 18:07.4.
