Thursday, September 26, 2013 12:15 PM
Once again, strong doubles play wasn't enough to carry the Huntington North High School boys' varsity tennis team to a win as it got swept in singles play by host Northrop and fell 2-3 on Wednesday, Sept. 25.
At first doubles, senior Matt Sieberns and junior Graham Sereno dispatched John Tuttle and Gavin Neyman, 7-5, 7-5, while senior Andrew Smith and freshman Nick May at second doubles topped Adam Dayll and Zach Borntreger, 6-0, 6-2, for the Vikings, 4-12.
Senior Wyatt Nave put up a good fight at second singles against Mike Ankenbruck, but came up short, 1-6, 6-4, 2-6. At first singles, senior Tommy Bolinger lost to Alex Stauretis, 1-6, 0-6, and senior Cameron Buzzard fell at third singles to Tyler Jordan, 2-6, 3-6, to round out the Vikings' day.
The Huntington North junior varsity lost 0-1 to drop to 10-6.
