Lady Viking golfers advance to regional with sectional third place

The Huntington North High School girls' golf team finished third in the Huntington North Girls' Golf Sectional on Saturday, Sept. 21, at LaFontaine Golf Club, in Huntington, to advance to regional play next week.

The Lady Vikings posted a 408 in the 10-team sectional to grab one of the three advancing spots. Marion won the sectional with a 351 and Southwood was runner-up with a 392.

Junior Maddi Kennedy led Huntington North with a 92. Sophomore Sarah Fryman carded a 95, freshman Ashley Hall fired a 110 and senior Lauren McCullough posted a 111.

Senior Gabrielle Malone was the non-scorer with a 122.

Marion's Kayla Adamson was medalist with a two over par 74. Lauren Tibbets, of Oak Hill, was runner-up with 78 and Sasha Glickfield, of Marion, took third with 79.

Manchester's Claire Barnett and Wabash's Jordan Rauh shot an 88 and an 89, respectively, to advance as individuals.

Huntington North will play in the East Noble Girls' Golf Regional at Noble Hawk Golf Links, in Kendallville, on Saturday, Sept. 28, at 8:30 a.m.
