Forester netmen dominate singles on way to beating SAU

The Huntington University men's tennis team dominated singles play and beat visiting Spring Arbor University, 7-2, on Tuesday, Sept. 17.

The Foresters, 6-2 overall and 5-1 in Crossroads League play, won five of the six singles matches, led by first singles player Vlad Khudziy with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Matt Wojkowski.

Second singles player Joseph Straznicky defeated John Hall, 6-2, 6-3; third singles player Jose Hungria topped Jesse DeBoer in three sets, 6-1, 3-6, 6-4; fourth singles player Diego Inurritegui beat Drew Herlein, 6-0, 6-2; and Derek Hinen at sixth singles beat Andrew Fitzpatrick, 2-6, 7-6, 10-8 (tiebreaker).

HU won two of the three doubles matches. Khudziy and Hungria topped Wojkowski and Herlein, 8-6, and Straznicky and Inurritegui beat Michael Darling and Hall, 8-5.

Zakk Sparks at fifth singles lost to Darling, 3-6, 2-6, and Sparks and Jacob Cross at third doubles fell to DeBoer and Aaron Laatsch, 1-8.
