HU soccermen fall to Holy Cross

The Huntington University men's soccer team spotted visiting Holy Cross College a trio of first half goals and never caught up, losing 4-2 on Thursday, Sept. 12.

Junior midfielder James Handtke put the Foresters, 4-2, on the board at the 75-minute mark in the second half to cut the margin to 3-1, but the Saints' Anesu Tabengwa scored a little over two minutes later, off an assist by Ryongmyeong Cho, to restore the lead to three. A goal by Huntington's Lucas Lengacher, with Tyson Bradley-Kalischuk assisting, in the game's waning seconds took the game to its final register.

Goals by Austin Haire, Troy Padgett and Garbhan Grant gave Holy Cross its first half lead, with Eduardo Berruezo assisting on the first two scores.

Senior goalkeeper Drew Mattingly got hung with the loss for the Foresters, playing 90 minutes and making five saves. Mattingly's Saints counterpart, Iain McTurk, also went the distance in goal, recording three stops for the win.
