HU spikers see lead evaporate into loss at Spring Arbor

The Huntington University volleyball team saw its two-set lead over host Spring Arbor University evaporate as the Cougars rallied to win three sets in a row and send the Foresters to a 2-3 defeat on Saturday, Sept. 7.
The Foresters started with wins of 25-19 and 25-18 before the Cougars edged them 25-21, 25-23 and 15-8 in the match's decisive set, dropping Huntington to 2-6 on the season and 1-1 in the Crossroads League.
Senior Melissa Grossman and junior Heather Medich headed the Foresters' offense with 15 and 10 kills, respectively, with help from junior Jensen Carnahan, who supplied 41 assists.
Sophomore Katie DePew led Huntington's defense with 24 digs, followed by Carnahan with 17, Kelsey Kruse's 15, Medich's 11 and Codie Morey's 10.
Rebekah Kujat paced Spring Arbor with 19 kills. Tenille Marowelli dished out 49 assists and Lyndsay Murray produced 30 digs.
