Stoffel PR propels Lady Vike harriers to fifth at Marion

Sophomore Hannah's Stoffel's personal-best time helped propel the Huntington North High School girls' varsity cross country team to a fifth place finish among 16 teams at the Marion Cross Country Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 7.

Stoffel completed the course in 19:21.86 to place seventh overall and lead the Lady Vikings to a team score of 149.

Carroll won the meet with 39 points. Noblesville was runner-up with 87 points, Pendleton Heights was third with 100 and Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger was fourth with 120.

After Stoffel, the Lady Vikes bunched their other scoring runners between 32nd and 38th places. Freshman Cadee Harmon was 32nd in 20:52.62, senior Cassidy Johnson was 35th in 21:01.07, junior Taryn Doering was 37th in a personal best 21:05.78 and junior Emily Eherenman was 38th in 21:08.39.

Junior Stephanie McElhaney and sophomore Marissa Jamison completed the HNHS squad by placing 45th and 46th, respectively, in 21:29.65 and 21:32.62.

Stacey Metzger of Carroll won the individual title in a time of 18:48.34.

The Lady Vikes placed sixth in the junior varsity race, led by Allyson Faurote's 22nd place finish in a personal-record 23:44.33.

Following Faurote across the finish line were Kayla Farrell, 30th in 24:10.87, Abby Henderson, 36th in 24:26.33, Rachel Nalliah, 41st in 24:47.90 and Ashleigh Miller, 54th in 25:23.29.
