Foster earns all-state with seventh place finish at state meet

Huntington North's Lindsey Foster captured seventh place in long jump at the Indiana State Track and Field Championships at Indiana University on Saturday, June 1, to earn an all-state designation and record the school's best finish on the day.

Foster, a junior, traveled to IU with Maddie Klender and Alexis Wygant, competing in shot put and pole vault, respectively, and the 3,200-meter relay team of Lauren Daas, Kayla Patrick, Hannah Stoffel and Stephanie McElhaney, which got a callback after running one of the 27 fastest times in regionals and spots in that race were open at state.

Foster's jump of 18-1 broke by four inches the school record of 17-9 she set earlier this year at the Lime City Relays.

The 3,200-meter relay squad took 13th place out of 27 teams, clocking in at 9:33.12.

Klender also managed to finish in the teens, landing in 17th in a field of 28 competitors with a throw of 38-5.

Wygant did not place in pole vault.

Northrop amassed 60 points to claim the state team title.
