Season ends at sectional for HNHS golfboys

The season came to an end for the Huntington North High School boys' varsity golf team at the Warsaw Sectional at Stonehenge Golf & Country Club, in Warsaw, on Friday, May 31, as its tally of 338 landed it in sixth place, outside of the top three advancing spots.

The Vikings were led by Grant Meese, who fired an 81 and missed out on advancing as an individual by just one stroke.

Meese's teammates were close behind, with Zac Tackett carding an 83, Sebastian Eckert shooting an 85 and Dakota Hunt submitting an 89.

Dakota Wibel was non-scorer with a 106.

Warsaw edged Triton by a stroke for the sectional title, 314-315. Columbia City's 319 snagged it the other ticket to regionals.

Ben Sharff, of Culver Academies, and Nate Koltner and Ben Schenk, both of Plymouth, moved on as individuals, turning in scores of 74, 78 and 80, respectively.

Triton's Ryan Rapp was medalist on the day, firing a 68 to beat runner-up Tyler Green of Columbia City by three strokes. Quentin Carpenter of Triton was third with a 72.
