Huntington University track team members Wood, Ogle outperform rankings at nationals

Huntington University track and field team members Lance Wood and Cendall Ogle were among the hundreds of athletes competing in the 2013 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University, May 23-25.

Wood capped off his collegiate running career Saturday morning by outrunning his ranking in the marathon. The senior entered the race as the 64th seed and finished in 2:37:25.50 to capture 21st place.

Ogle also turned in a solid performance earlier in the week. Running for the third time on the national stage, the 27th-seeded junior claimed 18th place with a time of 4:57.39 in the 1,500-meter trials on Thursday.

The Warriors of Indiana Tech dominated the championships, clinching both team titles. The women tallied 122 points, over 39 points ahead of its nearest competitor, to run away with the title while the men logged 72 points to outlast Oklahoma Baptist by four points for the championship.
