Lady Vikes win sectional behind Rethlake, Rosen
Sunday, May 26, 2013 3:41 PM
Erin Rethlake threw a no-hitter and she and Kaylynn Rosen each hit a home run as Huntington North slapped down Fort Wayne South Side, 10-0, in five innings in the Homestead Softball Sectional championship game on Friday, May 24.
The Lady Vikings, 24-2, will face Carroll, 25-6, in the regional Tuesday, May 28, at 5:30 p.m. at Huntington North.
Rosen slugged a two-run homer to highlight a five-run first inning for the Lady Vikes. It was her second straight game with a homer.
Rethlake helped her own cause with her 14th homer of the season and a double for three RBI.
On the mound, she had 10 strikeouts, and only a fifth-inning walk kept her from a perfect game.
Huntington North scored two runs each in the third and fourth innings to go up 9-0, and Audrey Hiner ended the game in the fifth with an RBI double.
