HN netgirls whitewash Kokomo

The Huntington North High School girls' varsity tennis team whitewashed host Kokomo, 5-0, on Thursday, May 2, for its sixth consecutive win.

The Lady Vikes, 6-3, got straight set wins from first singles player Kylie Fredrick and the first doubles team of Mariah Zumbrun and Ashley Bard, while Kari Bard at second singles, Emily Eherenman at third singles and the No. 2 doubles team of Ana Eckert and Emily Karst all hung tough to get three-set wins.

Fredrick ran past Morgan Mohr, 6-2, 6-1, while Zumbrun and Bard were 6-0, 6-2 winners over Katy Volikas and Brooke Grider.

Kari Bard at second singles came back from a 2-6 first set loss to Amana Tran, then won 7-6, 6-4. Eherenman also lost her first set, 5-7, but then came back with 6-1, 6-4 victories.

Eckert and Karst split the first two sets with Anne Marie Baisbaugh and Riley Ryain, 6-1, 4-6, but then triumphed 6-3 in the final set.

In junior varsity play, the Lady Vikings won 5-3.

Singles wins for HNHS came from Casey Richman and Alisha Leffler. Doubles victories came from Maddie Phillips and Alexis Fairchild, Addison Clark and Josi Stranger and Sara Fryman and Larissa Lund.
