HU baseball team out of Crossroads tourney on second day

The Huntington University baseball team lost to Mount Vernon Nazarene University for the second time in two days to end their run at the Crossroads League baseball Tournament on Thursday, May 2.

The Foresters, finishing the season at 12-25, fell to MVNU, 6-3, on Thursday after losing their tourney opener to the same third-ranked squad on Wednesday, 6-2, in 14 innings.

HU, ranked sixth, went to Thursday's play on the strength of beating No. 7 Bethel College 7-2, in the team's second game on Wednesday, May 1.

Adam Christner hit a first inning home run to set

the tone in the Foresters' win over Bethel. HU tallied four more runs in the fourth inning, with Dustin Rutledge getting two RBI.

Kyle Zerfas got the win, giving up five hits and two runs while striking out two and walking one.

Christner had three hits in the contest and had two RBI and two runs scored.
