HU trackmen eighth at conference

The Huntington University men's track team tallied 41 points to finish eighth at the Crossroads League Track and Field Championships at King Track and Field Stadium in Huntington on Friday, April 26, and Saturday, April 27.

Daniel DeBoni proved to be one of the league's top sprinters by finishing third in the 100-meter dash in 11.36 to earn all-conference honors and fourth in the 200-meter dash in 22.43.

Also earning all-conference status for the men with a third place finish was Jake Nash in high jump with a personal record leap of 6-5.75.

Logan Knox also turned in a personal best in the hammer where he finished fourth with a toss of 154-7.75, the fifth best heave in Huntington history.

Two Foresters also earned points in the meet's longest races. On Friday, Lance Wood, running a 33:20.04, and Nathan Rupp, submitting a 33:58.39, ran to a fourth and eighth place finish in the 10,000-meter run. Wood then crossed the line seventh in the 5,000-meter run on Saturday in 15:47.08 while teammate Tyler Herber was at his heels in eighth in 15:47.53.

Indiana Wesleyan's 173.5 points clinched the conference title, followed by Spring Arbor's 148.5, Taylor's 147, Marian's 86, Bethel's 77, Goshen's 69, Grace's 61, Huntington's 41 and Saint Francis' 16.
