Despite 17 kills and three aces by Ashli Rice, the Huntington North High School varsity volleyball team was overcome by host Eastbrook in four sets, with scores of 27-25, 23-25, 16-25, 16-25, on Wednesday, Sept. 23.
In addition to Rice, team leaders included Melissa Grossman with 11 kills, Morgan Broderick with 18 digs and Allie Zahm with 40 assists.
The Lady Vikings are now 13-9 on the season.
The Huntington North junior varsity team, 12-6, managed to defeat Eastbrook in three sets, with scores of 20-25, 25-20, 15-10.
Hannah Landrum had five kills, Taylor Hiers noted nine digs and Kayla Kock had 15 assists and five aces.
The HNHS freshman volleyball team, 5-7, also beat Eastbrook in three sets, with scores of 25-11, 15-25 and 15-13.
Josie Eckert led the team with eight kills and two aces. Monica Brown had two aces and Audrey Hiner had 18 assists.
