Lady Vike netgirls get 1st win

A singles sweep helped the Huntington North High School girls' varsity tennis team earn its first win of the season in a 4-1 victory over host Bluffton on Thursday, April 25.

First singles player Kylie Fredrick led the way for HNHS, 1-3, by rolling over Amanda Stone, 6-0, 6-1. Kari Bard at second singles took out Allison Williams, 6-3, 6-1, and Emily Eherenman at third singles won a three-setter over Sammy Gilliam, 4-6, 6-2, 6-4.

The No. 1 doubles team of Mariah Zumbrun and Ashley Bard got the remaining HNHS win by a 6-3, 6-0 score over Hunter Cunningham and Sierra Stessen.

The only loss for the Lady Vikes was the second doubles team of Ana Eckert and Emily Karst falling in a tight three-setter to Rachel Bertsch and Lauren Stauffer, 4-6, 6-2, 4-6.

The Lady Vikes' junior varsity also won, 5-4.
Singles winners were Casey Richman, 8-5 over Paige Jacobs; Larissa Lund, 8-2 over Carly Baumgartner; and Alexis Fairchild, 6-4 over Skyler Zuber.
