Lady Vikes blast Homestead, 13-0, behind Rethlake, Hiple

In its first game against Homestead since edging the Spartans 1-0 in sectionals last season, the Huntington North High School varsity softball team won by a more comfortable margin on Monday, April 16, routing the hosts 13-0.
Erin Rethlake shut down Homestead at the plate, one-hitting the Spartans over five innings while fanning 14.
Alyssa Hiple provided ample run support, going 4 for 4 at the plate with a home run and double and four runs batted in. The junior lit up the basepaths as well, scoring three runs and stealing two bases, both team-highs.
The Lady Vikings, 3-0, got six runs in the first two innings and added another seven in the fifth to push the game to its final tally.
Kaylynn Rosen added a homer and three RBI to Huntington North's cause while Maddi Kennedy plated two and had two hits. Rethlake also had two hits, and she, Kennedy, Rosen and Makayla Whaley each scored two runs.
HNHS had 14 hits as a team.
