Adam Christner and Blake Ayers each smacked home runs in a 5-2 first game win and the Huntington University baseball team took a doubleheader sweep of visiting Grace College on Saturday, March 30.

Beating Grace for the fourth time in two days to improve their season record to 4-12, the Foresters topped the Lancers, 8-3, in the second contest.

Two Forester pitchers limited Grace to four hits each in both games. John Ripke got the first game win with five innings of two-hit ball, and Derek McKinney got the nightcap win by throwing 5.1 innings of three-hit ball.

In the opener, Grace had taken a 2-1 lead in the top of the third before the Foresters took the lead for good with a two-spot in their half. Solo runs in the fourth and fifth innings proved to be good insurance.

Christner added a second hit and two RBI for the contest.

The Foresters backed McKinney in the second game with solo runs in the first and second innings and a trio of runs in the fourth. They added another three-spot in the sixth for good measure.

Christner and Jamon Hammel each had two hits and two runs batted in to lead the offense, and Brian Kirschbaum also had two hits. Marc Bowers also had two RBI.
