3,200 relay win highlights Lady Vikes' day at Anderson qualifier

A first-place finish by its 3,200-meter relay team was the strongest performance on the day for the Huntington North High School girls' varsity track and field team during its stop at a Hoosier State Relays Qualifier at Anderson University on Saturday, March 9.
The quartet of Hannah Stoffel, Lauren Daas, Karson Rowe and Kayla Patrick claimed the top spot for the Lady Vikings with a time of 9:54.6.
The 1,600-meter relay team of Patrick, Alexis Wygant, Lindsey Foster and Machaela Mertz captured third in 4:09.58.
Additional third place finishes came via Marie Ditzler in the 3,200-meter run, where she clocked in at 12:02.65, and Wygant in pole vault with a height of 9-0.
Another strong relay team performance came from Emily Bucher, Jamie Feller, Foster and Mertz in the 800-meter relay, as the squad placed fifth in 1:52.48.
Also snagging top 10 finishes were the distance medley team of Taryn Doering,
Stephanie McElhaney, Marissa Jamison and Stoffel, which cruised to eighth in 14:06.1, and Maddie Klender, who finished sixth in shot put with a throw of 35-9.5.
Other finishes for the Lady Vikings included Lauren Sands' 12th in shot put with a throw of 33-9, Lindsey Foster's 14th in long jump with a leap of 13-11, Jamie Feller's 16th in the same event with a bound of 13-7.25, Hannah Peters' 17th in the 3,200-meter run in 13:37.21, Sarah Johnson's 28th in :10.72 in the 55-meter hurdles and Merri Goetz's 30th in the same event in :10.83.
Those currently qualifying for the state relays include Foster in long jump, ranked 19th in the state; the sixth-ranked 1,600-meter relay team, the 11th-ranked 3,200-meter relay team and the 16th-ranked distance medley team.
