Marion proves too much for HNHS tennis team

The Marion Giants proved to be too much for the Huntington North High School boys' varsity tennis team, edging the Vikes 3-2 on Thursday, Sept. 17.

The two doubles matches had the only fruitful results for the Vikes.

Christian Webb and Ian Kardatzke defeated Andrew Schoerr and Kaman Tabor 5-7, 7-6 (7-5), 6-3. Vikings Neal Hamilton and Adam Klaffke won over Advaith Srikanth and Daniel Harrold 2-6, 6-3, 6-3.

In singles, No. 1 David Ballard lost to Brandon Dubuquel 4-6, 2-6. Chris Royer was shut out by Alex Hornett 0-6, 0-6 and Viking Phil Truitt fell to Nick Fauser 1-6, 0-6.

Thursday's meet placed the varsity record at 5-8.
The junior varsity team fared better than their counterparts, tying Marion 2-2.

Junior Keith Stambaugh shut down Mike Nikolulis 8-0, and Tyler Bracht also defeated Nikolulis 8-4.

HNHS's Luke Hoffman was beaten by D.J. Boyd 7-8 (3-7) and Alex Sereno lost to Boyd 4-8.

There were no doubles matches in the junior varsity competition.

The junior varsity record is now 6-6-1.
