The Blue Racer swimming teams experienced different outcomes against host South Adams on Thursday, Feb. 28, as the boys' team picked up its first win of the season, 100-60, while the girls' team lost 135-45.
Finishing first for the boys was the unit of Kevin King, Cody Barton, Paul Helmich and Hale Brown in the 200-yard medley relay and 300-yard freestyle relay and Barton in the 100-yard individual medley and 100-yard breaststroke.
Emma Helmich captured a pair of firsts for the girls in the 50-yard butterfly and 100-yard individual medley.
The boys' team, 1-3, got second-place finishes from the 200-yard medley relay team of Josh Rice, Jacob Koons, Jacob Burns and Keegan Mautz, Helmich in the 100-yard individual medley and 400-yard freestyle, Colin Betterly in the 50-yard freestyle, Burns in the 50-yard freestyle, the quartet of Burns, Mautz, Koons and Chase McCann in the 200-yard freestyle relay, Rice in the 100-yard breaststroke and Koons in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Second-place finishes on the girls' team, 0-1-3, came from Alexis Miller in the 100-yard breaststroke and Bethany Brunner, Alexandra Short, Miller and Helmich in the 200-yard medley relay.
