HNHS boys' tennis team sweeps singles on way to victory over South Adams

The Huntington North High School boys' varsity tennis team swept the singles matches on the way to defeating host South Adams 4-1 on Tuesday, Sept. 15.

No. 1 David Ballard defeated South Adams' Alex Huber 6-1, 6-1; No. 2 Chris Royer beat Kegan Sprunger 6-2, 6-4; and Luke Hoffman at third singles won over Mark Muselman 6-2, 6-1.

The number two doubles team of Matt Harter and Adam Klaffke won over Derek Schwartz and Ian Frank 1-6, 6-1, 6-3.

At first doubles, Christian Webb and Ian Kardatzke lost to Chase Ingles and Jacob Smith in a three-set thriller, 7-6, 4-6, 6-7.

The varsity squad is now 5-7 on the season.

The HNHS junior varsity tennis team also defeated South Adams, but by a smaller margin: 5-3.

In singles, Viking Jeremy Rice won over Jonathan Stoffen 8-3. Keith Stambaugh lost to Reid Zurcher 2-8, Brad Homme fell to Zach Yoder 6-8, and Tyler Carroll was beaten by Reid Zurcher 1-6.

Huntington North, now 6-6, swept the doubles competition.
Neal Hamilton and Stephen Reich defeated JD Tarr and Jeremiah Heshkard 8-4; Vikings Ben North and Ethan Hethcote shut down Landon Lehman and Dakota Mitchel 8-0; Josh Pinney and David Yanes won over William Nicks and Luke Nussbaum 8-2; and Alex Denicolo and Tyler Bracht defeated Landon Lehman and Dakota Mitchel 6-3.
