HU women beat Grace, end three-game slide

The Huntington University women's basketball team defeated host Grace College, 62-43, on Saturday, Jan. 26, ending its three-game skid.

The Foresters, 14-9, 6-6 in the Crossroads League, lost to Bethel, Saint Francis and Marian during their losing streak, but led the Lancers from start to finish. The hosts got to within one point, 32-31, four minutes into the second half, but Huntington responded with a 12-0 run that gave it a 44-31 advantage and a double-digit lead for the remainder of the game.

Pazia Speed scored a game-high 24 points for the Foresters on 10 of 15 shooting. Amelia Recker sunk 6 of 11 shots and added 14 points to the team's cause while Taylor Foley pulled down a game-best nine rebounds.

Grace was led by Juaneice Jackson, with nine points, and Allison Kauffman, with eight.

Huntington shot 47.1 percent for the game on a 24 of 51 performance to Grace's 30.2 percent showing on 16 of 53 shooting.
