Foresters miss pair in loss to No. 16 Pilots

Missing scoring punch and size without Shane Merryman and T.J. Short, the Huntington University men's basketball team lost to host and 16th-ranked Bethel College, 83-65, on Tuesday, Jan. 15.

The Foresters, 12-9, 3-6, got down by 12 points after the first half of play and trailed by as many as 24 points in the second half against the Pilots, 17-4, 8-1.

Ryan Boester scored 20 points to lead HU. Colin Featherston added 13 points, Alec Peterson had 11 points and Tyler Ault added nine.

Jordan Bowerman scored 25 points on 10 of 13 shooting and Zach Miller added 21 points to place Bethel.

HU hit 23 of 63 shots from the field for 36.5 percent and 10 of 16 free throw tries for 62.5 percent, while Bethel hit 31 of 65 from the field for 47.7 percent and 8 of 14 from the charity stripe for 63.2 percent. The Pilots hit 9 of 19 from beyond the arc for a nifty 47.4 percent mark, with Miller going 7 of 14.

Peterson had 13 rebounds to lead HU on the boards, while Featherston, Boester and Stephen Jones each had four assists. Tyler Ault added three steals.

Brandon Gerber came off the Bethel bench to grab 11 rebounds.
