Greene leads HU women over Spring Arbor

Allison Greene came off the bench to score a team-high 14 points and lead the Huntington University women's basketball team to a 66-40 win over visiting Spring Arbor on Tuesday, Jan. 8.

Sarah Miller-Jennings scored 13 points and Amelia Recker had 11 for the Foresters, 11-6 overall and 3-3 in the Crossroads League.

HU took a 25-19 lead after the first half after holding a margin as high as 12 points. Recker led the way for HU with seven points.

Jenna Jamieson led all scorers with 21 points for Spring Arbor, 6-12 overall and 0-6 in the Crossroads. April Adams added 12 points.

The Foresters hit 20 of 55 shots from the field for 36.4 percent but helped themselves with a 17 of 21 effort at the free throw line for 81 percent. The Cougars hit 19 of 52 shots for 36.5 percent, but hurt themselves tremendously with a 3 of 22, 13.6 percent effort from beyond the arc.

Lauren Meese led HU on the boards with six rebounds, and Miller-Jennings was the assist leader with three. Greene chipped in four steals to the cause.
