Forester women open season with big win

Four players scored in double figures as the Huntington University women's basketball team ripped host Aquinas College, 64-43, in the HU season-opener on Saturday, Nov. 3.

Senior guard Allison Greene led the offense with 14 points, followed by freshman. Amelia Recker and junior Taylor Foley with 12 points each, and junior Pazia Speed added 11.

Floor general Lauren Meese kicked off her senior season with a team-high 10 rebounds, and she and Speed were tops in assists with three apiece.

The Foresters hit only 20 percent from the field in the field half on 7 of 35 shooting, but took a 20-14 lead into the lockerroom at halftime. They connected on 17 of 30 from the field for 56.7 percent in the second half as they pulled away to win.

Allison Heberlein of Aquinas topped all scorers with 15 points, but she was the only host player to reach double figures.
