Cougar gridders split with Whitko

The season came to an end for the Crestview Middle School eighth grade football team on Wednesday, Oct. 10, as the Cougars lost, 40-16, to host Whitko.
Jacob Reust was effective in the ground game, gaining 152 yards and scoring two touchdowns.
Noah Kitt gained his yardage through the air, with 41 receiving yards and a two-point conversion. Trevor Szelis also got into the end zone for two.
Dylan Wynkoop, Trevor Teeple, Connor Adkins and Logan Nightingale all tied for the team lead in tackles.
An offensive explosion in the last four minutes of the game pushed the Crestview Middle School seventh grade football team past host Whitko, 22-0, on Wednesday, Oct. 10.
Collin Landrum was a large part of that, scoring two touchdowns to go with 75 yards rushing in the game.
Colton Hasty did his part on defense, recovering a fumble and running it back for a score.
Mason Landrum led the defense with six tackles and also rushed for 22 yards on offense.
Other defensive standouts were Cole Keller, with five tackles, and Hunter Strass, with four tackles.
The Cougars advance in the NELSMC playoffs.
