CMS cross country teams near bottom at conference

The Crestview Middle School varsity cross country teams finished near the bottom of the pack on Saturday, Oct. 6, at the Northeast Lakes Middle School Conference meets at Wawasee.
The varsity boys' tam finished in fifth place out of eight teams and the varsity girls placed sixth out of seven teams.
Dillon Valenti finished 13th in 11:27 to pace the varsity boys. David Spencer was 22nd in 11:43, Dawson Hertel was 33rd in 12:06, Evan Kropf was 40th in 12:31 and Nolen Young placed 42nd in 12:38.
All but Valenti sets personal records in the meet.
Chloe Scheiber finished 21st in 12:58 to pace the CMS girls' varsity. Emma Helmich was 29th in 13:11, Meagan Thomas was 31st in 13:28, Emma Melcher was 32nd in 13:35 and Jenna Henline was 33rd in 13:36.
In the junior varsity meets, the JV boys placed fifth out of eight teams and the JV girls were last out of six teams.
Alex Wiedenhoeft was 16th in 13:03 to lead the boys' JV. Reid Dillion was 18th in 13:07, Josh Waters was 34th in 13:43, Jack Young was 38th in 13:50 and Mitchell McElhaney was 45th in 14:03.
Erika Vinson led the girls' JV by placing 30th in 14:39, followed by Chelsea Boyer, 33rd in 14:53; Jennifer Meyer, 42nd in 15:44; Rachel Moore, 45th in 15:54; and Megan Berry, 56th in 17:29.
