HNHS Vikings' win streak comes to end at Richmond Friday, Oct. 5
Saturday, October 6, 2012 2:10 PM
The high-flying offense of the Huntington North High School varsity football team was grounded by host Richmond on Friday, Oct. 5, and the Vikings' three-game win streak was snapped, 30-12.
The Red Devil defense limited quarterback Drew Schnitz to 30 yards and no touchdowns on four of 13 passing.
The senior quarterback had a little more success on the ground, rushing for a team-high 75 yards and two scores on 19 carries, but it wasn't enough to lift Huntington North, 4-4, past their hosts, who are 6-2 overall and a perfect 6-0 in the North Central Conference. The Vikings' conference record stands at 4-2.
Richmond led 24-0 at halftime. Schnitz scored his first touchdown in the third quarter to put Huntington North on the board. The score going into the fourth quarter, however, was 30-6 and out of reach for the Vikings.
Defensive lineman Austin Garde led Huntington North's defense with nine tackles and a fumble recovery. Defensive back Tyler Veilleux also scooped up a fumble, while defensive lineman Nathan Sutter recorded a sack and defensive back Braydin Stell had eight tackles.
