Volleyball team loses heartbreaker to Northrop

The Huntington North High School varsity volleyball team lost a heartbreaker to host Northrop in five games on Thursday, Aug. 27, falling by the scores of 21-25, 25-18, 25-22, 19-25 and 14-16.

Frontliners Ashli Rice and Melissa Grossman led the way for HNHS with 14 and 12 kills, respectively, along with two aces apiece. Playmaker Allie Zahm recorded 40 assists in the match, and Morgan Broderick had 24 digs and two aces.

The team is now 2-2 on the season.

The junior varsity squad lost in three games to Northrop, 25-18, 18-25 and 12-15.

Hannah Landrum and Jessica Morgan each had four kills, and Taylor Hiers added nine digs.

The JV squad is now 5-3.

The freshman squad also went down to defeat, losing 4-25, 25-20 and 9-15, to their Northrop counterparts.
Marisa Kitt had five digs, Audrey Hiiner had six assists and two aces, Josie Eckert had three kills and Aalexis Wygant had two aces.
