The Huntington North High School softball team had its five-game win string broken and finished its regular season with a doubleheader loss to visiting Richmond, 11-1 and 7-6, on Saturday, May 23.

The Lady Vikings, 12-8, got spanked in the opener as Maureen Lund's streak of outstanding outings was stopped. Richmond got to the sophomore star for eight runs and five hits in just three innings, and the Lady Vikings' offense, with several junior varsity players making appearances, could only muster a single run, in the third inning.

Morgan Broderick was a bright spot with three hits.

The Lady Vikings came back strong in the nightecap, rallying from a 6-2 deficit in the sixth and seventh innings to push the game into extra innings, but Richmond pushed across the deciding run against Lund, pitching in relief, in the top of the ninth.

Megan Burnworth had three hits and Broderick added two more for HNHS. Bowen had a triple to highlight the Lady Vikes' sixth.
