Huntington man serves Thanksgiving meals in Afghanistan

First Sgt. Charles Applegate, of Huntington, spent his Thanksgiving Day serving meals to soldiers at Bagram Air Field in Afghanistan.

Applegate is a member of Task Force Cyclone, Headquarters and Headquarters Com-pany. Members of the command group of Task Force Cyclone served the Thanksgiving meals.

The task force is made up of about 3,000 coalition forces, including about 200 soldiers from Indiana. Its mission is to partner with the government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and, with the help of joint interagency and multinational partners, improve the security, governance and economic development for the Afghan people in Bamyan, Panjshir and Parwan provinces.

The task force also facilitates the reception, training, housing and sustainment of coalition forces in five locations in Afghanistan.
