Pioneer Festival Committee cancels event for 2020

The Forks of the Wabash Pioneer Festival Committee has announced the cancellation of this year’s festival.

Festival Co-Chair Lori Satchwill said issues involving budgeting and vendors, combined with problems arising from the COVID-19 pandemic proved to be too much to hold the festival, which had been set for Sept. 26 and 27, and would have been the 45th year for the event.

“It was a hard decision,” said Satchwill. “It was heartbreaking, and we had vendors that were saying, ‘I don’t feel comfortable in trying to keep social distancing that will probably still be,’ and then not knowing what the fall will bring.”

The festival will now be planned for a target date in the fall of 2021, to be announced at a later date.
