Area churches announce special services to hail Holy Week, Easter

Several area churches have announced special services to celebrate Holy Week and Easter:

ANDREWS UNITED METHODIST CHURCH
• Hosannah Palm Sunday service, March 25, at 11:30 a.m.

• Dinner with Jesus (Last Supper service), March 29, 6:30 p.m.

The church is located at 29 W. McKeever St., Andrews.

CHRIST THE KING EPISCOPAL CHURCH
• Palm Sunday service, March 25, at 9:30 a.m., starting at the 509 Community, 509 E. State St., Huntington, for singing, scripture reading and blessing of palms.

The parishioners from both churches will then proceed from the 509 to Christ the King Episcopal Church, 1224 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, for worship that includes a dramatic reading of the Passion story from the Gospel according to Luke.

The celebrant of the Eucharist will be the visiting Bishop of Northern Indiana, the Right Rev. Dr. Douglas E. Sparks.

The service at Christ the King will start between 9:50 a.m. and 10 a.m. after the procession reaches the church.

• Maundy Thursday, March 29, at 6:30 p.m. Eucharist will be held.

• Good Friday liturgy, March 30, at 12:10 p.m.

• Easter Vigil service,  Saturday, March 31, at 7 p.m.

• Easter Eucharist,  Sunday, April 1, at 9 a.m.

FAITH LUTHERAN CHURCH
• Palm Sunday, March 25, at 9 a.m.

• Maundy Thursday service, March 29, at 7:30 p.m.

• Good Friday, Tenebre service, March 30, at 7:30 p.m.

• Saturday Easter vigil service, March 31, at 8 p.m. at St. John Bingen.

• Easter sunrise service, April 1, at 7:24 a.m.

FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
• Palm Sunday, March 25, at 9:30 a.m.

• Maundy Thursday service, March 29, at 6:30 p.m.

A Seder meal will take place in the church fellowship hall. The Lord’s Supper will be served and the
 Bell Choir will perform.

• Good Friday service, March 30, at 9 a.m., at the Parkview Huntington Family YMCA, 1160W-500N, Huntington.

A Good Friday breakfast will be held. Rev. Lyle Ewing’s message will be “What is Truth?” based on John 18:33-37.

Breakfast will be provided by Kim’s Katered Affair. The Y Strings will also provide music. Register online at www.huntingtony.org or stop by the YMCA and RSVP.

• Easter Sunday service, April 1, at 9:30 a.m.

A continental breakfast will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the Tuxis Lounge with worship to follow. The church bell choir will perform and Holy Communion will be celebrated.

ST. PETER’S FIRST COMMUNITY CHURCH

ZANESVILLE CHURCH OF GOD
• Maundy Thursday service, March 29, at 7 p.m.

• Easter sunrise service, April 1, at 8:30 a.m. Breakfast will be served at 9 a.m. and the Easter service will begin at 10 a.m.

The church is located at 11984 Marzane Rd., Zanesville.

ZANESVILLE UNITED BRETHREN IN CHRIST
• Maundy Thursday service, March 29, at 6 p.m.

• Easter sunrise service, April 1, at 9 a.m.

Breakfast will be served at 9:40 a.m.

An Easter service will begin at 10:30 a.m.

The church is located at 3092 W. Broadway, Zanesville.

ZANESVILLE UNITED METHODIST
• Easter sunrise service, April 1, at 8 a.m.

Breakfast will be served between 8:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.

Sunday school will begin at 9:30 a.m. and an Easter worship service begins at 10:30 a.m.
