Walk/run and egg hunt on Saturday will raise awareness of child abuse

The Huntington County Community Foundation, along with the Huntington Department of Child Services, will hold a community walk/run and Easter egg hunt on Saturday, April 15, at Kriegbaum Field.

The egg hunt will be held from 3 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. and the walk/run will begin at 4 p.m.

During the event, teams and individuals will walk the track to represent the 1,670 children nationwide who died as a result of abuse and/or neglect in 2015.

There will be booths for attendees to visit for information on child abuse and neglect prevention. There will also be food trucks, a cotton candy machine, popcorn machine and a snow cone machine.

There is a cost for the event, which includes a T-shirt, a snack and water.

Proceeds will go to the partners of the events. Partnering agencies include Healthy Families Indiana, Community Partners for Child Safety, Youth Service Bureaus and Safe Place, Prevent Child Abuse Indiana and Indiana Child Advocates (Court Appointed Special Advocates or CASA).
