The public is invited to a Christmas open house and program at the Huntington County Historical Museum on Tuesday, Dec. 15, at 7 p.m.

Local musicians Mark and Vickie Kiefer will present a program of old- fashioned American Christmas music, which will feature a sing-along and the background stories of many favorite holiday songs.

Mark Kiefer is the choir director at the Evangelical United Methodist Church, and has also taught fourth grade at Lincoln Elementary School for the past 35 years.

Vickie Kiefer is the administrator's assistant at Trinity United Methodist Church.

In addition to the musical program, election of officers and board members will also be held. The Virginia Miller Award, which recognizes the efforts of an individual to preserve some aspect of Huntington County history, will also be presented.

Past winners include Lowell and Marjorie Richardson, Mary Brooks, Jean Gernand and Russel Spath, among others.

Following the meeting, light refreshments will be served, and visitors will have opportunity to tour the museum and enjoy the many changes and new exhibits.
The museum will close at noon on Dec. 31, and re-open February 2.

The next open meeting of the historical society will be held at the museum on March 16, 2010.

The museum is located at 315 Court St.
