Nelda R. Guethler, 92, of Huntington, IN, died Sunday, April 6, 2014, at 4:15 a.m. at Parkview Huntington Hospital.
Mrs. Guethler graduated from Roanoke High School in 1940. She worked at General Electric, in Fort Wayne, in the early 1940s and later was a homemaker. She taught knitting and sewing and repaired sewing machines.
She was a member of Faith Chapel United Methodist Church of Huntington, where she served as a youth leader, Sunday School teacher and in the Sunshine Circle. She was a 4-H leader and was a member of the Clear Creek Happy Homemakers Extension Club and the General Electric Camping Club.
She was born Jan. 18, 1922, in Huntington County to Arthur and Effie Stetzel Rice. She married John J. Guethler on June 3, 1945, in Roanoke. He preceded her in death on Dec. 1, 1979.
Survivors include a son, David L. Guethler, of Huntington; two daughters, Kay S. Affolder, of Decatur, and Jane A. (Harry) Meilbeck, of Howard City, MI; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Calling is Wednesday, April 9, 2014, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 W. Park Drive, Huntington. A service will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2014, at 11 a.m., with calling one hour prior to the service, at Faith Chapel United Methodist Church, 2978W-1100N, Huntington. Burial will be at Beech Grove Cemetery, Huntington County.
