Linda E. Hollenbaugh, 75, of rural Roanoke, IN, died Saturday, April 6, 2014, at noon at Country Meadows Nursing Home, Fort Wayne.
Mrs. Hollenbaugh graduated from Jefferson Center High School as valedictorian of the class of 1956. She earned a Bachelor of Science in elementary education from Manchester College in 1960 and taught second grade at Churubusco from 1960 to 1965.
She was a member of Pleasant Chapel United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school and Bible school. She served as a youth leader for 16 years and participated in the Conference Senior High Bike Camp. She sang in the church choir, was a past president of United Methodist Women and served as secretary for Church Women United of Huntington County.
She was a charter member, first recording secretary and past president of the Genealogical Society of Whitley County. She was a charter member of the Roanoke Area Heritage Association and Jefferson Extension Homemakers Club, where she served as secretary, vice president, president and devotional leader.
She was born July 15, 1938, in Fort Wayne to Clarence and Altha Simons Raichart. She married Kermit R. Hollenbaugh on Aug. 5, 1961. He preceded her in death on July 3, 2010.
Survivors include a foster daughter and niece, Candy Raichart.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2014, at 2 p.m., with calling two hours prior to the service, at Pleasant Chapel United Methodist Church, 880E-1100N, Roanoke.
