Phyllis Irene Keefer, 86, of Big Lake, Columbia City, IN, and a former resident of Roanoke and Zanesville, IN, died Thursday, Jan. 30, 3014, at 12:50 p.m. at Norwood Health and Rehabilitation, in Huntington.
Mrs. Keefer graduated from Lafayette Center High School in 1945. She lived in Roanoke from 1947 until moving to Zanesville in 1989, then moved to Big Lake in 1994. She worked at the Coil Factory, in Roanoke, and at Square D, in Huntington. She retired from Superior Auto in 1990.
She was born July 31, 1927, in Allen County to Robert J. and Elsie I. Hambleton Young. She married Elmer Keefer Jr. on July 4, 1947, in Kentucky. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Karen (Jack) Landrum, of Huntington; a son, Kevin (Mary) Keefer, of Huntington; a brother, Paul R. (Mary) Young; four grandchildren, Todd (Jill) Landrum, Troy (Sadie) Landrum, Kimberley Keefer-Hollowell and Chad (Rachel) Keefer; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Calling is Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, Columbia City. A service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, at 10 a.m. Rev. Mark Hoffer of Union Church, in Huntington, will officiate. Burial will be at Covington Memorial Garden Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
