Janice L. Cumbey, 64, of Roanoke, IN, died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Mrs. Cumbey graduated in 1967 from Crestview High School, in Convoy, OH, and a 1968 graduate of Warner Beauty College. She worked as a beautician for 38 years, owning M.J.'s Classic Styles, in Roanoke, until her retirement in 2003. She was a member of Seminary United Methodist Church, Eastern Star and Roanoke American Legion Post 160.
She was born Sept. 24, 1949, in Convoy, OH, to Eldin and Lucille Marquardt Rhoades. She married Thomas Cumbey Sr. on Jan. 19, 1970, in Convoy, OH, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 8, 2003.
Survivors include two sons, Tom (Tina) Cumbey Jr., of Oswego, IL, and Bob Cumbey, of Roanoke; three brothers, David (Alice) Rhoades, of Ohio City, OH; Dwight (Connie) Rhoades, of Van Wert, OH; and Dennis (Susan) Rhoades, of Convoy, OH; a sister, Joy (Al) Goodman, of Elgin, IL; and two grandchildren, Madeline Cumbey and Carter Cumbey.
Calling is Friday, Jan. 17, 2014, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Roanoke Memorial Chapel of Deal-Rice Funeral Homes, Roanoke. A service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, at 11 am., with calling one hour prior to the service, at Seminary United Methodist Church, 285 N. Seminary St., Roanoke. Burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery.
