Charles Ray Daniels, 88, of Fort Wayne, IN, and a former resident of Huntington, IN, died Sunday, Jan.12, 2014, at Kingston Care Center, in Fort Wayne.
Mr. Daniels graduated from Horse Branch (KY) High School in 1948. He served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953, achieving the rank of corporal and seeing combat in Korea. He attended Indiana Institute of Technology, where he was a member of Alpha Omega Tau and Theta Tau fraternities, and graduated in 1958 with a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering.
He was employed by Wabash Magnetics, in Huntington, until leaving in 1967 to form his own company, Ferromagnetics, in Columbia City. Ferromagnetics was dissolved upon his retirement in 1992.
He was born Nov 26, 1928, in Horse Branch, KY, to Henry O. and Laura Mae Camp Daniel. His first marriage was on Dec. 22, 1957, to Patricia Ann Johnson, and she preceded him in death in 1979. He married Margaret Motzie Stratman in 1983, and she also preceded him in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Beverly (Susan Moore) Daniels, of Raymond, ME, and Sharon (Dr. Christopher) Crooker, of Lawrenceville, GA; two grandsons, Brendan Crooker and Spencer Crooker; and his stepfather, Matthew Hibbs, of Clarsville.
A service was held on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, a Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Burial was at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, Huntington.
