The Huntington North High School boys' varsity basketball team ran into a torrid visiting Richmond team on Friday night and got beaten, 74-51.
Richmond, 5-0, hit 29 of 50 shots from the field for 58 percent to send the Vikings to their second loss in six games so far this season.
Keaton Irwin scored 15 points and Caleb Landrum had 14 for Huntington North, which didn't help itself with a 15 of 40, 37.5 percent shooting performance from the field and 12 of 17, 70.6 percent effort from the free-throw line.
Mike Tillman led all scorers with 20 points for Richmond. The 6-3 senior nailed 7 of 9 shots from the field, including 6 of 8 from three-point land.
Joel Okafor added 12 points for Richmond and Davious Webster chipped in with 11.
The Red Devils broke on top, 12-11, after one quarter of play, and expanded the margin to 27-24 by halftime, but things really got away form Huntington North in the third quarter as Richmond doubled its score while holding HNHS to 16 points for a 54-40 lead.
Richmond hit 17 of 24 shots from the field in the second half for 70.8 percent.
Kyle Platt grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds for the Vikings, but Huntington was still on the short end of a 29-22 tally there. Landrum led them in assists with three.
The Richmond junior varsity actually shot a little better than the varsity and beat the Viking JV, 47-39.
Sam Daugherty had 13 points and Hunter Hollowell had 12 to lead HNHS.
